After missing out on the Ryder Cup, 29-year-old Maverick McNealy will hope to shine at the upcoming PGA Bank of Utah Championship at the Black Desert Golf Course this week.
The PGA Tour recently had a week off, while the post season Fall Series will resume at the PGA Bank of Utah Championship on Thursday for the second time. Previously named the Black Desert Championship, Matt McCarty was the first winner of the tournament last year as finished one stroke ahead over Stephan Jaeger.
What to know about Maverick McNealy
McNealy was among America’s best prospects in 2016 before turning professional in 2017 post the Walker Cup that year.
The 29-year-old’s first and only win on the PGA Tour came at the 2024 RSM Classic, where he finished ahead of Daniel Berger, Luke Clanton and Nico Echavarria.
What did he say
As one of the standout points of his career so far, McNealy was said to be in line for Team USA at the Ryder Cup this year but ultimately lost out on the chance to feature at the coveted showpiece.

Reflecting on the missed opportunity at the Ryder Cup, McNealy expressed his gratitude at being considered for the tournament.
“I spent my entire year trying to gear up and prepare for that and pretty instantaneously that’s gone,” McNealy said last month.
“I wanted so badly to be in that team room, wear the red, white, and blue, and —more than anything — make that putt to win points for the USA.
“I am grateful to have even been in the conversation.”
